Viola Davis Will Play Harriet Tubman in HBO Biopic

Scandal actress Kerry Washington is set to portray Anita Hill in HBO’s Clarence Thomas biopic Confirmation, and now another Shondaland actress is heading to HBO.

Academy Award-nominated actress Viola Davis will portray slave abolitionist Harriet Tubman in an upcoming HBO biopic.

While the TV film is currently untitled, it will be based on Kate Clifford Larson’s 2003 biographic novel Bound for the Promised Land.

Kirk Ellis will pen the film, and Viola will serve as an executive producer.

We may be jumping the gun here, but we predict future Emmy nominations for Kerry as Anita and Viola as Harriet.
