    Andre Ayew Ghana forward surpasses his dad in AFCON goals

    Ayew converted a penalty in the 32 minute to give Ghana the winning goal in over Mali in their first game of AFCON 2017. 

     Ghana forward Andre Ayew on Tuesday, January 17 surpassed his father, Abedi Pele in goals scored in the Africa Cup of Nations.

    The West Ham winger now has seven goals in AFCON, one more than what his dad, Pele scored for the Black Stars of Ghana.

    Pele, former Captain of the Black Stars is one of Africa’s most decorated and honoured footballers in history.

    As a 17-year-old he helped Ghana win the AFCON in 1982 and played in five more editions (1984, 1992, 1994, 1996 and 1998).
