Released Wednesday afternoon, “Ship To Wreck” is a powerful ballad that puts Florence Welch‘s impressive pipes to work and lays her emotions bare.

“Ship To Wreck” definitely has a nautical vibe, like the name suggests. The lyrics talk about killer whales shark attacks, and shipwrecks, of course, but it’s far from a tale of life by the sea, according to Perez Hilton. The song is an ode to self-destruction, drowning and not being able to escape.
“I was thinking about my own self destructive side, and how you can make something only to tear it down, enjoy/destroy, create/devastate etc. When you’re in that whirlwind, you often end up breaking the thing you love the most,” Florence said about the song.
The song is the third single off the band’s latest album, How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful, which is set to drop June 2, 2015 in the United States. On February 13, they released the full song and music video for “What Kind of Man;” back on February 10, they introduced the album’s title track, “How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful,” and its accompanying video.
