We all know the 2014 movie adaptation of Richelle Mead's bestselling series, was absolutely abysmal. It was truly horrible and an absolute shame to the brilliantly written series.
We also all know that The Vampire Diaries, the hit CW show currently in its sixth season, is based upon the mediocre series written by L.J.Smith, and was adapted for TV by none other than Julie Plec. Pictured below with stars of TVD, Ian Somerhalder who plays Damon Salvatore, and Nina Dobrev, who primarily plays Elena Gilbert & a host of dopplegangers after that.Given the success of The Vampire Diares, the CW officially ordered a complete first season of its spin-off, The Originals - also helmed by Julie Plec and currently in its second season, this show, like TVD, is highly successful and highly popular. Centering around The Original Family from both the books and the TV show, the spin-off itself, has even warranted its own book series, written by, again, Julie Plec. Do you see that? Do you see her name everywhere? This is testamount to just how much this one woman powerhouse can do for a book series. If you've read The Vampires Diaries books, then you know that they are not that great - you also know that despite the changes, the television series is SO MUCH BETTER.
Having read The Originals book 1, I can tell you that it is as beautifully written as it would be, had The Original Family themselves, penned it. So what if, this one woman powerhouse, known for breathing life, plot twists and mystery into TVD, were to try her hand at adapting Richelle Mead's 6-book series, Vampire Academy? Unlike the TVD books, VA is spectacularly written! So think what she could do, if only she had the chance?
