Get Carmen Ejogo’s Complete 2015 Academy Awards Look

Carmen Ejogo shut the red carpet down at the 2015 Academy Awards! Flaunting a modern take on old Hollywood glam with a strong emphasis on her brow and lip, the star was a total winner. The overall look was new and fresh, yet reminiscent of the old, film stars and we loved every bit of it. Learn how to get her look below.
Makeup
Makeup artist Beau Nelson started the look with two shades of Maybelline New York’s Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation in two different shades to create dimension. A slightly darker shade from Ejogo’s skintone was used on the perimeter of her forehead and under the cheekbones, and then a slightly lighter shade was used through the middle of her forehead, down her nose and under her eyes. Nelson then applied Maybelline New York’s Face Studio Master Conceal under her eyes and throughout the face where needed for additional coverage. Nelson then set the look, rather than adding more coverage, by applying Maybelline New York’s Fit Me Matte + Poreless Powder with a large, fluffy brush.
After applying foundation and concealer, Nelson used Maybelline New York’s Fit Me Bronzer to highlight her features and create added definition. Next, he applied Maybelline New York’s Fit Me Blush in Deep Rose to the apples of her cheeks to give a youthful glow.

Nelson contoured the eye using a grey/matte taupe shade from Maybelline New York’s The Nudes Palette Next, he applied Maybelline New York’s Eye Studio Master Graphic Eye Liner pushing the liner into Ejogo’s lashline. Using a small smudge brush, he then applied the darker shade of Maybelline New York’s Eye Studio Color Molten in Endless Mocha along the line to diffuse and create a smoky/shimmer effect. Nelson then curled Ejogo’s lashes and applied two coats of Maybelline New York’s Lash Sensational Mascara to both the top and bottom lashes. Finally, to add extra emphasis to the eyes, Nelson applied Maybelline New York’s Eye Studio Brow Drama— "back brushing" the brows first and then finishing with a sweep forward, for beautiful and strong definition.

For the lips, Nelson used Maybelline New York’s Color Sensational Creamy Mattes in Divine Wine to create a different texture on the face as everything else was fresh and shimmery. “Matte lipstick gives a formality to the look…It’s like dressing them up for the occasion,” said Nelson.

Hair

For Ejogo’s hair, hairstylist Lacy Redway began by blow drying her hair using a Ys Park Hair Brush and Oscar Blandi Blow Out Creme.

Once hair her hair was completely dry, she curled sections using a Hot Tools 3/4 Inch Marcel Curling Iron and sprayed each section with Oribe Superfine Hairspray for added hold.

Next, she pinned each section with Diane Duck Bill Clips. Once her hair was cooled, Redway released the sections and brushed out the curls using a flat paddle brush. Using her fingers, Redway sculpted the hair on the right side of her face into an ‘S’ pattern, forming a marcel wave.

Finally, Redway finished off the style with a bit of hairspray.
