Atlus has released a new trailer for Persona 5. The ridiculously stylish clip offers a better look at the main characters of the Playstation exclusive and a quick glimpse at gameplay. Check it out below!
We previously got eyes on the main character, but the new video follows him as he walks around Tokyo, rides the train and sits in class. It also introduces two new characters and an anthropomorphic cat.
The fifth installment, like the others, will feature an all-new cast but stay true to the overall theme of a team of Japanese high school students banding together to save the world from nefarious forces.
As the hijinks ensue, player characters summon their inner personas (or alternate identities), often late at night. Persona 4, released in 2008, focused on the mystery behind a television channel that appeared at midnight and showed a person his or her true love, someone who would inevitably end up dead. Its predecessor, Persona 3, delved into the hour hidden between days when demons attacked humans in their sleep.
During a recent interview, which was translated by Silconera, director Katsura Hashino talked about the overall plot of the forthcoming title: "This time, it's about a group of high school students who are being 'chased' by unexpected occurrences due to the justice they believe in. We're writing [the story] to convey a thrilling everyday life in the shoes of these characters, that are as large as life, in this juvenile school setting."
A release date for Persona 5 has not been confirmed.
